Casual Dress Days

Days on which the students may free dress are considered a privilege.  Students are expected to adhere to good grooming and neatness on these days.  No oversized or baggy clothes, torn clothing, tank tops, spaghetti straps, tube tops, bare midriff tops, shorts other than walking length shorts, hats, or T-shirts with inappropriate slogans may be worn.   A student will lose the privilege of a non-uniform dress if he or she disregards the above regulations.  When there is a question, the appropriateness of the attire will be decided by the administration.

Clothing should be appropriate and modest for school.  Special attention should be paid to the following:

  • Properly fitting jeans may be worn as long as they are not baggy, faded, torn, bleached, frayed or cut.  Jeans (or pants) must be hemmed and of appropriate length (no longer than heel length).

  • Shorts and/or skirt length should conform to uniform guidelines for boys and girls, and may not be frayed or cut.

  • Socks or stockings must be worn with respective shoes.  Shoes should be sturdy, closed-toe, and flat-soled for safety reasons.

  •

The following types of clothing are unacceptable on non-uniform days:

  • undershirts

  • tank, spaghetti-strap or bare-midriff tops

  • inappropriate slogans or logos on clothing

  • baggy or over-sized clothing

  • “camouflage” (army fatigues)-type clothing

  • hats

  • sandals, clogs, open shoes or excessive heels

If in doubt, check for approval in advance or don’t wear it.
