Dear Students and Parents,
Christian / Community service
is an integral part of Our Lady of Malibu School’s philosophy. OLM teaches the message of Christ, develops
community and family spirit, and reaches out to those in need both locally and
universally. In keeping with OLM’s
philosophy, “to develop concern for the poor and the underprivileged and
provide avenues through which the students can express compassion and provide
help,” we incorporate Christian service into the 7th and 8th
grade Religion program.
Service is volunteering in a
not for profit organization. Students
must have a supervisor complete an OLM evaluation form, which should be turned
in to his / her Religion teacher by the due date for each semester.
Students must complete 10
hours of Christian service each semester during 7th and 8th
grade. Hours worked during summer months
may be counted towards the first semester requirement.
A list of suggestions for
Junior High Christian Service Hours is provided below. Students must look up contact information,
and inquire as the whether there are volunteer opportunities available for
students. Please let the office know of
any additions or deletions to the list of suggestions. This list is not comprehensive. Feel free to explore other opportunities as
well.
